Judicial candidates share ideas in Federalist Society forum



Candidates for the N.C. Supreme Court and N.C. Court of Appeals outlined their judicial views and their approach to the law during a forum Thursday night sponsored by the Triangle Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society.

Catherine Truitt, senior education adviser to N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory, explains the need for innovation in the state’s public school system. Truitt offered these comments during an interview for Carolina Journal Radio.


State Supreme Court justices lead effort to boost education about courts, civics



    Two members of the N.C. Supreme Court are leading a new effort to emphasize civic education in North Carolina, especially education that explains the role of the court system in our constitutional system.

    Associate Justices Sam Ervin IV and Paul Newby explained their work during a presentation Monday to the John Locke Foundation's Shaftesbury Society. In the video clip above, Ervin and Newby note both the importance of the judicial branch of government and the general sense that people know little about the way courts work.
