Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     The McCrory campaign today launched a new TV ad, "Economy," highlighting the progress made since 2013 to create jobs, lower taxes and turn budget deficits into surpluses.

"Under Governor McCrory's leadership, North Carolina has gained the most economic ground of any state in the country and has outperformed the nation in terms of income and job growth," said Russell Peck, Governor McCrory's campaign manager. "Governor McCrory's record of results stands in stark contrast to Roy Cooper's, which includes voting to raise taxes by $9 billion on hardworking families and doubling state spending while serving in the state legislature."

North Carolina "has gained the most economic ground over the past three years of any U.S. state" - Bloomberg News, 3/31/2016

    Results, not politics:

  • Fastest growing economy: When Governor McCrory took office, North Carolina had the 5th highest unemployment rate in the country. Now, North Carolina has one of the fastest growing economies of any state with over 300,000 new jobs and the lowest unemployment rate in nine years.
  • Most improved tax climate: In 2013, North Carolina had the highest income and corporate business taxes in the Southeast. Now, North Carolina has the most improved tax climate in the country after Governor McCrory delivered $4.7 billion in tax relief, including for small businesses and the middle-class.
  • From shortfalls to surpluses: Governor McCrory inherited hundreds of millions in budget shortfalls when he took office. But instead of growing government and raising taxes, the McCrory administration controlled spending, cut taxes and focused on growing the economy. Now, while Virginia has a $1.5 billion budget shortfall, North Carolina has a $425 million budget surplus, allowing the state to invest more in important priorities like teacher pay raises, transportation and public safety.

    Ad Transcript:

Pat McCrory: When I entered office North Carolina had record unemployment, high taxes and huge budget shortfalls; it had been that way for years. Now, we have one of the fastest growing economies in this country. We cut taxes. Added three hundred thousand new jobs. We have the lowest unemployment in nine years and we're announcing thousands of new jobs every month. That's results, not politics.
