Raleigh, N.C. The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointment today:
North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission
- Richard G. Catlin (New Hanover County) - Catlin is president of CATLIN Engineers and Scientists. He holds professional certifications as both an engineer and geologist. Catlin previously served as the House Representative for District 20, co-chaired the House Environmental Committee and received a North Carolina Coastal Federation Pelican Award in 2015 for his efforts to protect groundwater quality.
The Coastal Resources Commission was created when the General Assembly adopted the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) in 1974. The commission establishes policies for the N.C. Coastal Management Program and adopts implementing rules for both CAMA and the North Carolina Dredge and Fill Act. The commission also designates areas of environmental concern, adopts rules and policies for coastal development within those areas and certifies local land use plans.
