AOP Launches School of the Arts and School of the Arts for Kids!

    AOP is launching it's first School of the Arts with workshops and arts opportunities for adults and a School of the Arts for Kids later this month at the Turnage Theater. Several performances and programs will be offered both as weeklong programs and single workshops and performances.

    AOP's School of the Arts for Kids includes:

  • A weeklong program which begins on August 29, 2016. Spaces are limited, serving up to 50 children, grades K-8. This program is being taught by a team of creative, accomplished & energetic instructors educated in the arts. Each week two artists will work with children and youth to offer a series of hands-on experiences in 3D art, music and movement, sketching, drawing & painting, singing & acting on stage, and the moving image.Fees are $75 per week for an ongoing weeklong program throughout the school year from 3 PM - 5:45 PM. Fees for one afternoon are only $25 (if space allows). School bus drop offs are being explored now for weeklong participants!
  • AOP is offering two Creative Dramatics workshops for grades 3 - 5 and 6 - 8 ending with a performance the same afternoon! Check the calendar for offerings in September & October. $25 fee
  • AOP is offering children the opportunity to create their own books, bound too through the Little Authors workshop in October & November. $25 fee

We are collecting ideas about the events you want to see, the cost, partner collaborations, theater productions, sponsorship ideas, collaborative fund raisers for AOP and community groups, artist outreach & support and more. Artist's Notes

  • AOP is now offering Member Artists a new online directory, which mirrors what other art councils in the state offer, to support Artists in increasing their reach and sharing how to contract them to sell their work. Artists upload their own information and up to three images for AOP to proof for posting. The Artist may change their information once a month for review. Click Artist Directory to upload your information!
  • The Hands-On Festival on September 24 is going to be lots of fun! A piano to paint! Artist demonstrations! We have just a few spaces left if you would like to demonstrate your work and/or be a vendor. Contact us for details.
