Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     Today, the very groups that have been trying to trash North Carolina's economy and reputation have revealed why they're doing it: to help elect Roy Cooper. After The Human Rights Campaign and their associated groups formally announced their endorsement of Roy Cooper, The McCrory Campaign immediately called on Roy Cooper to disavow it and their actions.

"How badly do out-of-state special interests want Roy Cooper to be governor so they can impose their extreme agenda on our state? So much so that they would coordinate an all out assault on North Carolina's economy, denigrate our reputation and actively pressure companies to boycott our great state without regard to hardworking North Carolina families. Roy Cooper shouldn't celebrate their endorsement. He must disavow it and their coordinated assault on North Carolina." - Russell Peck, McCrory campaign manager

North Carolina was getting along fine until Roy Cooper, The Human Rights Campaign and their allies:

  • Specifically targeted Charlotte to pass an extreme ordinance to radically change privacy norms in showers, locker rooms and rest room facilities after the defeat of the Houston ordinance. (The New York Times, 5/21/2016)
  • Purposely coordinated a backlash from corporations and CEOs to create the false narrative that North Carolina is bad for business once the ordinance was repealed (News & Observer, 4/21/2016)
  • Lobbied the Charlotte City Council and Democrat leaders to reject any compromise over the issue (Charlotte Observer, 5/23/2016)
  • Pressured the Obama administration to cut off federal funds to North Carolina (News & Observer, 5/31/2016)
  • Staged dishonest and misleading press conferences and petitions from out-of-state activists for the media (North State Journal, 6/5/2016)
  • Pressured the NBA to move the 2017 All-Star Game and lobbied against a compromise deal to keep the NBA in Charlotte (The Washington Times, 4/21/2016; WBTV, 6/28/2016; WBTV, 7/1/2016)
  • Praised the NBA's decision to move the All-Star Game (Human Rights Campaign, 7/21/2016)
  • Pushed for, praised concert cancellations by Hollywood and entertainment hypocrites (The Human Rights Campaign, 4/8/2016)
  • Wikileaks revealed that Democrat officials cheered news of concert cancellations and potential economic damage to North Carolina caused by The Human Rights Campaign, Roy Cooper and their allies (WSOC, 7/26/2016)

Despite these efforts to trash North Carolina's economy and reputation to benefit Roy Cooper's campaign without regard to how it would impact hardworking North Carolina families, North Carolina has created more than 25,000 jobs, unemployment has dropped to below the national average, cities are reporting that travel and tourism is on the rise, and the state's budget surplus has grown since March of 2016.

Roy Cooper has yet to disavow any of these groups or their actions.
