At the RNC Convention, I Witnessed Ted Cruz's "Political Suicide" | Eastern North Carolina Now

Charles Krauthammer said it best: "Well last night, Cruz delivered the longest suicide note in American political history".

Charles Krauthammer may have said it best: "Well last night, Cruz delivered the longest suicide note in American political history".

It was a sad moment; but not for Donald J. Trump, and not for the Republican Party and its leadership. It was a sad moment for Ted Cruz. Charles Krauthammer may be right; Senator Cruz may be the political walking dead, and there may be no elixir to resurrect his national ambitions, and it is well apparent that these national ambitions are a mammoth part of Ted's political image of his future.

I supported Ted, voted for Ted in the primary, and right now, I feel very cool toward Ted. Politicians need to get over having their feelings hurt, because it will happen, and that reality must be overcome. In the future, I may vote for Ted if he again runs for president. but ...

There are a whole big bunch of Trump supporters who never will.

Ted calculated that he would deliver the speech of his life, that he would have a 1976 Ronald Reagan moment, but it backfired, and his attempt to appear Reaganesque came off as petty, and, sadly, pissed off a massive throng of folks - many that were his ardent supporters.

Like I said, I may vote for Ted Cruz in the future; but, I may also take a long look at the other guy, and, I will always question from here on: How will my guy act when it is time to be magnanimous? Every politician needs to learn that quality just as they must know profound humility.

Here is the entire speech. Needless to say, it all fell apart near the end. I found myself yelling at the TV - "Do it; endorse him, do it":
