Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     In response to PayPal's corporate hypocrisy and extortion after North Carolina overturned a radical bathroom ordinance pushed by a registered sex offender and passed by the Charlotte City Council, NCGOP Vice-Chairman Michele Nix released the following statement:

  • "So after PayPal was forced to settle after violating economic sanctions on Cuba, Sudan and Iran, and even processed payments for someone looking to buy nuclear-weapons technology on the black market, the California-based company now has a problem doing business in North Carolina? This is corporate hypocrisy and bullying at its worst, and as a working mother I'm proud to live in a state that stands up for the privacy and safety of women and children by overturning an ordinance pushed by a convicted sex offender to allow men into women's restrooms."

Background:

  • PayPal agreed to a $7.7 million settlement after the US Treasury Department accused the company of violating economic sanctions on Cuba, Sudan, and Iran. (Rachel Louise Ensign, "PayPal to pay $7.7 Million to U.S. over alleged sanctions violations," The Wall-Street Journal, 3/26/2015)
  • PayPal accused of "processing payments for a man allegedly involved in the black market for nuclear-weapons technology." (Rachel Louise Ensign, "PayPal to pay $7.7 Million to U.S. over alleged sanctions violations," The Wall-Street Journal, 3/26/2015)
  • Lead Activist Behind Charlotte Bathroom Ordinance Registered, Convicted Sex Offender
    • "Convicted Sex Offender Leads Transgender Rights Effort in North Carolina" (Austin Ruse, "Convicted Sex Offender Leads Transgender Rights Effort in North Carolina," Breitbart, 3/7/2016)
    • Severance was sentenced to ten years in prison for committing a lewd act on a minor under the age of 16. (Julie Woodcock, "Music minister fondled us, claim youths in Gaffney church," Spartanburg Herald-Journal, 7/20/2000)

Should Americans be thankful for North Carolinians setting precedent in taking a stand for their state's right to manage the safety of their public facilities, where separation of the sexes remains, or should they follow Bruce Springsteen's lead and boycott the state as bigots since they will not allow grown Transgender men to use the same bathrooms /locker rooms as pre-pubescent girls?
North Carolina is right to control the separation of the sexes as a matter of decorum and safety.
North Carolina is a bigoted state to not require that children of opposite sexes share the same public facilities with adults of the opposite sex, although misidentified - the Transgender.
I generally prefer the natural environs of the vacant, although rather public, large tree.
