19th Annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals radiothon to be held April 8-10 | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Press Release:

The 19th annual 'Music for Miracles' radiothon, set for April 8-10 on 107.9 WNCT, raises funds to help sick and injured children in eastern North Carolina through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to benefit James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital at Vidant Medical Center.

GREENVILLE - Radio listeners will have a chance to brighten the world for hospitalized children during the 19th annual "Music for Miracles" radiothon April 8-10 on 107.9 WNCT.

The three-day radio marathon raises money to benefit the programs and services of James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital. In 2015, there were more than 48,000 pediatric inpatient and outpatient visits from a 29-county region in eastern North Carolina.

"Our efforts over the past 18 years have been so successful, and year after year we see how much people in eastern North Carolina care about this children's hospital," says Rhonda James, director, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. "We are looking forward to another successful radiothon this coming weekend and continuing to raise funds to improve the lives of the children we treat."

Since the first radiothon in 1998, the event has raised more than $3 million.

For the on-air personalities of 107.9 WNCT, the "Music for Miracles" radiothon is a spring highlight and a project they all eagerly anticipate.

"We get very excited about the radiothon and know it's going to be a huge success," says on-air personality Donna Kelly. "107.9 WNCT's listeners have big hearts and are some of the most generous people I know. And the children we have met over the years are just amazing. There's a certain energy in just knowing that what we do over those three days will help countless children across eastern North Carolina. We believe in miracles, and we know our listeners believe, too!"

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is a fund-raising program of the Vidant Medical Center Foundation.

It began as a light rain Thursday night, January 20th, with temperatures a balmy 46 degrees, and by morning a thin layer of ice clung to the firm, bright reddish green Nandina leaves prevalent upon my personal grounds here in Mac'swood.

Sunsets are a natural phenomenon, and always a process where one can estimate that the evening will produce a magnificent sunset, but, one can never be altogether sure until it either happens, or the light of the day unceremoniously just turns dark.
