Emory Students intimidated by Political Chalk Talk | Eastern North Carolina Now

Trump Slogans written in chalk have disturbed some students at the most elite Liberal Arts School in Georgia.

Trump Slogans written in chalk have disturbed some students at Emory University, the most elite Liberal Arts School in Georgia. They must be protected from such hate speech and demand that the University president protect them from this flagrant violation of their space.    Here is link to the Daily Mail article

Here are some highlights from the article above.

  • President Jim Wagner said students viewed graffiti as intimidating
  • Officials arranged a meeting for those offended to address concerns
  • University organizations also offered counselling to those affected
  • But some commentators have told the students to grow up
  • Republican frontrunner won the Georgia primary earlier this month

    Bobby Tony offers some solutions:

My solution of course on this outrage is to declare Emory as a chalk free zone. There is no reference to chalk in the constitution as far as this layman can tell. There should be an exception for rainbow colored chalk if it used in the appropriate manner.

We just cannot have students walking around campus with concealed chalk in their pocket. It is just not good policy and affects the safety of the whole student body. We should issue each student an official "EMORY ERASER" which they can use to remove offensive "TRUMP 2016" graffiti from sidewalks, steps and publicly visible structures.

Gene, I'm having the same problem here. Georgia Tech paraphernalia sells out so fast that there's never any on the shelf nothing but Georgia Bulldogs stuff everywhere you go.

Just an interesting note --- Emory and Georgia Tech have joined up over medical technology. Previously Emory chose not to participate in big college sports and focus, instead, on academics.

NOW---I have a Yellow Jacket mascot along with the Emory Eagle. You still can't find anything GT or Emory in Eastern NC!

Ah well, there is still ECU Pirate gear . . .

Thanks Stan,
Too much time and too little knowledge is a bad thing.

The binary joke came from an article that I have in personal files but has not been published on BCN. The short version ( you are welcome) is that I still use binary programming in my quest to win the Power Ball. Here is my one and only punch card.
Maybe I will dig out the article and add it to the BCN Fluff pile.

I graduated Emory in 1967. It was "the rebellious 60's" elsewhere and Emory students did an Affirmation Vietnam rally at the Braves Stadium. They now get students with issues from home as they always have! Get over it modern crybabies. . .

I would see where Newt Gingrich was that night since he is also am Emory grad from my same era.

Since NC is trying to change our state schools to Conservative Stamp machines, maybe Emory is just trying to copy us . . .

Stan, Most would say you are only half right with the "Wise ?One?" comment, but I caught your drift and the implied meaning.

Bobby Tony suggests to appease the crybabies that they declare Emory a chalk-free zone. A veritable "safe space" from evil chalk.

B.T., you are the wise one.

What is our collective children, our greatest resource, learning at our centers of higher learning?

They are learning how to function in life as vapid crybabies.

This is straight out of the Democrats' Education Industry's playbook: Keep'em stupid, keep'em voting Democrat.
