The Law of Large Numbers Will be BCN's Long Time Companion. | Eastern North Carolina Now

If you work hard enough or are lucky, at some point, the Law of Large Numbers may become your nemesis or your friend. We've paid the ratcheted cost to know the latter.

Beaufort County NOW may be heading into a phase where we know something that few ever know in the online publishing business - large numbers.

Sure, my local competition may talk of large numbers, and charge you quite well enough for space on their publications, but chances are, they really do not know large (traffic) numbers, and some will never know large traffic numbers, and there is a reason for that: Online viewership is dwindling for most, because of the competition from more advanced platforms, or mainstream Social media. It simply is becoming a 'zero sum' game, where the viewership pie is still expanding, but at a slower pace, while the competition for those viewers is increasing at a far greater pace. At some point, some media is in a failing spiral, while better sourced media will survive and later thrive.

This is the exact position where we have positioned our Symbiotic Publisher prototype, Beaufort County NOW. We have worked hard to get there, and now, we are there ... irrefutably there, and it does readily appear that we will be that local media left standing in a position to thrive, while our competition, who at least know to one thing - charge for their dwindling viewership - will one day find themselves in that failing spiral. One of the differences between us and them could be our superior proprietary Content Management System - Symbiotic Publisher.

We began building this Content Management System in mid to late 2008, and now after many years of struggle and revisions, our prototype, Beaufort County NOW is the top online publication originating from northeastern North Carolina (excepting Pitt County, which is central east), and that includes every newspaper, television station, college, university, etc., etc.

If I had to pick why we are now easily besting the competition, it would be under the aforementioned category of more advanced platforms. From that reality of superior platform, we are beating our competition handily in mainly tow technical criteria: platform's ease of operation and navigation; and mainly Search. In Search, our CMS is superior to all that I am familiar with, and if I am wrong, please supply data to refute this assertion - just two pieces of information requested - publish your traffic numbers, show your number of pages indexed by Google.

Wait a minute here; while I can't know the competition's traffic, I can easily ascertain their indexed pages by Google, and let us face this one truth, you cannot benefit from Search unless your pages are first indexed. Without the appearance of admonishing the competition, by name, I will just publish BCN's indexed pages now, February 29, 2016, and I will publish my traffic tomorrow, March 1, 2016, for February. But first, before we finish the post tomorrow, the indexed pages:

Beaufort County NOW's indexed pages by Google on February 29, 2016

The 'About 518,000 results' represents that BCN has 518,000 pages indexed by Google on February 29, 2016.

And now as promised, we provide the image of the remarkable traffic numbers of 'blowout month' of February, 2016. I will provide extemporaneous commentary quite soon in explanation, and defense of these astounding figures.
