Jones Fights Communist Chinese Takeover Of American Markets | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Washington, D.C.     This week, Congressman Jones joined 44 of his Republican colleagues in writing U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew asking for a federal investigation into a Chinese firm's planned acquisition of the Chicago Stock Exchange. Earlier this month, the Chicago Stock Exchange announced it would be bought by the Chongqing Casin Investment Group of China, meaning a firm with ties to the communist Chinese government will have access to trillions of dollars in the US economy. This access raises financial, economic, and cyber-security concerns.

    "It is outrageous that a communist Chinese company-a front for the communist Chinese government-will be given access to trillions of dollars in the struggling US economy and secure information about US businesses. I strongly urge the Obama administration to investigate this firm and stop this purchase," said Congressman Jones.

    Congressman Jones has consistently fought against the efforts of communist China to buy up strategic American businesses. In 2013, Congressman Jones fought the Chinese purchase of Smithfield Foods, Inc., the world's largest pork producer and processer. Despite his efforts, the merger was finalized and was the largest-ever acquisition of an American corporation by a Chinese company.
