Dueling Hits - Tom Jones, I have a confession to make | Eastern North Carolina Now

I was never a great fan of Tom Jones until I dated a girl who actually loved him. Warning, this post contains no adult content. But maybe some adult inferences.

I just saw a seventy-five year old Tom Jones on Fox and Friends (I guess this post will alert the IRS that I am a potential terrorist, since I think they watch closely for any followers of FOX). He has a new book out with stories of his life.

I have never understood the "Elvis Affect" where female fans would lose all sense of reality and propriety. I guess that it has been around forever. Even Old Blue Eyes Frank Sinatra had his groupies.

Well to cut to the chase, one of the best investments I ever made was the purchase of a Tom Jones Greatest hits album. I do not remember the year but it was probably in the 1969-1970 period. We practically wore the grooves off that 33 1/3 piece of vinyl.

I'll just say that one album paid enormous dividends for a while.

Thomas Wolfe said "You Can't Go Home Again" and I would agree with him in this case.

I don't think my heart could survive a revisit to that few months.
