For immediate release:

Constitutional conservatives who are legal residents of North Carolina and who are 18 years old or older are invited to participate in New Bern in a state wide TEA Party Constitutional Caucus on Saturday, October 17, at the Double Tree Hotel located at 100 Middle Street. The purpose of the Caucus is to choose one candidate for U.S. President and one candidate for U.S. Senate from North Carolina who each embrace limited government, individual rights, fiscal responsibility, and free markets within the framework of the Constitution.

Registration is open from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Anyone who is in line at 10 a.m. will be registered. A photo ID will be needed in order to register.

The Caucus program will begin at 10 a.m. and will include an opportunity for any participant to make a 3 minute nominating speech. Any other participant may make a 1 minute seconding speech. There must be at least 1 participant willing to second a nomination in order for a candidate to be successfully nominated. Any participant may make a 1 minute speech for or against any candidate.

There will also be time to caucus and discuss the candidates, and a vote will be taken. The Presidential Caucus and vote will be held first, and it will be followed by the Senatorial Caucus and vote.

The New Bern vote will be tallied along with the votes taken on the same day at the 9 other North Carolina locations and the winning presidential candidate and the winning senatorial candidate announced and disseminated as widely as possible.

We the people are very tired of political parties choosing our candidates and have chosen this method to ascertain which one presidential candidate and which one senatorial candidate is favored by most conservatives.

Information about other locations and more background information can be found at the North Carolina TEA Party Constitutional Caucus website, www.teacaucus.org.

More information about the New Bern caucus location can be obtained from Caucus volunteers Connie Hanna (totinkerbelll@suddenlink.net, 252-637-0005), Ann Bowman (ciaoanno@suddenlink.net).
