Why are Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh, and Don Imus popular?

A classic technique dates back to the circus, vaudeville and even Ron Popeil hawking the latest gadget on TV. People are attracted to the ballyhoo of a loud pompous know it all if for no reason other than just to see the show. We even have some here on BCN that use that technique.

The media is a business and is based on the size of the audience. Advertising revenue is directly tied to views and butts in the seat as they used to say. Even the most jaded of observers must agree that the bottom line has a tremendous influence on what is put out for the public.

Donald Trump's name is a brand no less marketed than the Kardashian family. Paris Hilton was famous for being famous. Traffic snarls caused by wrecks are common but why does the other lane slow down when the wreck does not affect their traffic flow?

We are currently over a year away from the election and most of the people currently announced or running for POTUS will not be around next year when the voting occurs. Some will come and go and eventually we will narrow the field down to a few.

To belabor the point, in the arena of the media, ratings trump everything. Why? Because the most important and earth shattering revelations are of no value if no one hears them.

I am always amused when people complain about the attention that THE DONALD attracts and then proceed to use the same technique to attract attention to their cause. Let's face it folks. THE DONALD is good at this and I for one do enjoy the show regardless if I agree or disagree with the message.

I do not have to make up my mind until November 2016, so until then, get the popcorn and sit back. It is going to be a "REALLY BIG SHOW".
