Jones Reintroduces Bill to Track and Report Crimes by Illegals Aliens to the FBI | Eastern North Carolina Now

News Release:

    WASHINGTON, D.C.     Yesterday, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) reintroduced H.R.1041-the Jamiel Shaw, II. Memorial Act--to require states to track and report crimes committed by illegal aliens to the FBI as a condition for receiving any funds from the Department of Homeland Security. The bill is named after Jamiel Shaw Jr., who was murdered by an illegal alien and DREAMer, Pedro Espinoza, in Los Angeles on March 2, 2008. Congressman Jones first introduced this bill in the 113th Congress, where it was referred to the House Homeland Security Committee and the House Judiciary Committee.

    Today, Jamiel Shaw spoke about his son's murder at the hands of illegal alien Pedro Espinoza before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He asked that Congress consider Congressman Jones' bill, H.R. 1041, named after his son.

    "It is a national disgrace that law-abiding Americans are at risk from illegal aliens who have committed violent crimes," said Congressman Jones. "There is no excuse for not deporting violent illegal aliens, and unfortunately the murder of Jamiel Shaw Jr. is not the only murder or brutal crime committed by the thousands of violent illegal aliens wandering American streets. One of the primary purposes of government is to protect American citizens, and once again the Obama administration has failed the American people. I have consistently voted to stop illegal immigration into this country and to stem the flow of benefits to those who have broken our immigration laws. I will continue to do everything I can to ensure American citizens are kept safe from violent illegal aliens."
