    Raleigh, N.C.     The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today:

    East Carolina University Board of Trustees

    •  The Honorable Kieran Shanahan (Wake County) - Shanahan is the managing partner of Shanahan Law Group.

    The board promotes the sound development of the institution within the functions prescribed for it. The term length is four years.

    Governor's Crime Commission

    •  The Honorable Seth Banks (Yancey County) - Banks is District Attorney of the 24th Prosecutorial District.

    The commission serves as the chief advisory body to the governor and the secretary of Public Safety on crime and justice issues. The GCC's chief initiatives include safer schools, gang prevention and intervention, partnership with veterans and ongoing support for local law enforcement through a strengthened local law enforcement block grant program. The term length is three years.

    North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System Board of Trustees

    •  The Honorable Carson Smith Jr. (Pender County) - Smith is the Sheriff of Pender County.

    The board administers retirement system laws for local government members of the retirement system. The term length is four years.

    North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners

    •  Erin Hogston (New Hanover County) - Hogston has more than 10 years of sales and marketing experience with clients including one of the largest triathlon production companies in the nation.

    The board ensures minimum standards of competency and provides the public with safe athletic trainer services through licensure practices. The term length is three years.

    North Carolina State Board of Examiners for Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors

    •  D. Hunter Edwards Jr. (Mecklenburg County) - Edwards is the president and CEO of MSS Solutions.

    The board protects public health, safety and welfare by prescribing the standard of competence, experience and efficiency by examining applicants for plumbing, heating and fire sprinkler contractors licenses. The term length is seven years.

    Roanoke River Basin Bi-State Commission

    •  The Honorable Joyce Krawiec (Forsyth County) - Krawiec is a state senator representing District 31.

    The commission's purpose is to provide guidance and make recommendations to local, state, and federal legislative and administrative bodies, and to others for the use of stewardship and enhancement of water and other natural resources. It is to provide a forum for discussion of issues affecting the basin's water quality and issues affecting other natural resources; to promote communication, coordination and education among stakeholders within the basin. It identifies problems and recommends appropriate solutions to undertake studies and prepare, publish, and disseminate information through reports, and in other forms related to water quality and other natural resources of the basin. The term length is at the pleasure of the governor.

    Marine Fisheries Commission

    •  Alison Willis (Carteret County) - Willis is on the marketing, infrastructure and leadership committees of NC Catch and is also a board member with Carteret Catch.

    •  Samuel Corbett III (Pender County) - Corbett is a full-time commercial fisherman and North Carolina fish dealer. He will serve as chair of the commission.

    The commission's purpose is to manage, restore, develop, cultivate, conserve, protect and regulate marine and estuarine resources within its jurisdiction. The term length is three years.

    North Carolina Private Protective Services Board

    Dustin Greene (Forsyth County) - Greene practices commercial and general litigation matters.

    Brian Lowman (Wake County) - Lowman is the pastor for South Hills Baptist Church.

    The board approves, denies, suspends, revokes or takes other disciplinary actions against applicants and licensed members under its control. The term length is three years.

    North Carolina Irrigation Contractors' Licensing Board

    Mark Krouse (Mecklenburg County) - Krouse is the backflow program coordinator at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department.

    The board licenses and regulates persons who engage in the practice of irrigation construction or contracting. The term length is three years.
