New unit offers greater access and care options in northeastern North Carolina


    AHOSKIE, NC     Earlier this month, Vidant Health opened a new, state-of-the-art Cancer Care and Hematology services suite at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital. The spacious new unit is designed to serve more patients and families, and is located on the first floor of the hospital.

    "This is an exciting next step in our effort to continue providing the high quality care our patients need, in locations that are closer to home," Sue Lassiter, president of Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital. "With the new Cancer Care and Hematology services suite, patients and their families have access to the latest treatment options in a comforting and supportive new environment."

    The new unit includes state-of-the-art exam rooms, a patient/family lounge, conference space, and relaxing lounge chairs for chemotherapy/infusion that overlook a garden area. Additionally, patients and their families will be assigned a patient navigator to assist with care and resources.

    The $800,000 unit is part of ongoing investments Vidant is making to improve care across eastern North Carolina.

"We are constantly working to find new ways to provide our patients and their families with high-quality, affordable care options.
