The Slander of Hood Richardson Could be Rebuked | Eastern North Carolina Now

There has been an ongoing smear campaign orchestrated by the local RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) of the local Republican party that have long attacked the conservative members of our county commission: Hood Richardson and me (Stan Deatherage). For Hood, who really puts out large quantities of conjecture, they make stuff up to single him out to publicly punish. For me, who puts out much less conjecture, they make stuff up to single me out to publicly punish. In this respect, there is a rather odd consistency that suggests: 'It's just fine for us to do this because, they (Hood and Stan) are mean Conservatives, and we are RINOs, and liberal Democrats will one day like us and join us.'

This tragic error in thought for these RINOs rises from their misunderstanding that an unprincipled Republican party works best, is more flexible to become the majority party, and from that premise - the Republican party will become the Democrat party of old - a small part conservative, a larger part bigoted, and altogether malleable to expand to all things to all people.

From the 'simple' strategy of registering as many people as Republicans to the abject unprincipled behavior of the Washington Strategic Group, who gravitates to working with the bottom of the barrel of Republican candidates: former Democrats, former elected Democrats, candidates that don't show up for forums, other RINOs, and candidates that actually will say about anything, and actually know very little real pertinent information. Succinctly put, these are not leaders of the electorate, they only mirror it, and often the worst of that electorate.

This is, obviously, where they gain their strength, or why would they make stuff up to speak to this lower rung of the electorate - many whom can't form complex thoughts enough to understand that Hood's great fault, while ironically also his strength, is his delivery. This ignorance of prejudice clouds their ability to recognize that Hood, much more often than not, is right, and therefore makes perfect sense to the rest of us.

For them governing a self-governed people is about making nice, going along, getting along, joining the club of thought that stipulates do it our way, we're in the majority. Hood and I are not those type of guys, and while I am not guilty of the bold conjecture of 'The Hood', I am absolutely guilty of recognizing quickly the better idea, the more prudent measure, the far smarter move, and yes, like Hood, but without the infrequent acerbic nature, I am thinking one or two moves ahead of most folks; maybe three or four moves ahead of all RINOs.

And, while I will no longer soon be a public figure, I absolutely will no tolerate the lies of liars, be they against my person, my good friends, like 'The Hood', or those that I am not familiar with, but are unconditionally in the right. To that extent, I am proud to publish information leaked to me that will admonish, by Rebuke, Beaufort County Republican Party Executive Committee member William Bonanno, who did publicly slander Hood Richardson.

I hear he will have a chance to respond, which is fair; however, this is a case where the plaintiff has the high ground, and the upper hand of recordable truth on their side.

Here below is the resolution of his admonishment:

Resolution of Rebuke

prepared and proposed to the Beaufort County Republican Party

Whereas, William Bonanno is a member of the Beaufort County Republican Executive Committee, and

Whereas, William Bonanno writes letters to local newspapers degrading the reputation of elected Republican County Commissioner Hood Richardson, and

Whereas, William Bonanno asserts in writing that Hood Richardson's reason for not supporting construction of the new jail at the Chocowinty site is so Richardson can sell his building located on north market street to Beaufort County, and

Whereas, there is no evidence in any form to support the assertion that Beaufort County may or could need the building owned by Hood Richardson for any purpose including the construction of a new jail, and

Whereas, Hood Richardson is a duly a elected Republican County Commissioner in good standing with the Beaufort County republican party and executive committee, and

Whereas, Hood Richardson has never offered his building located on north market street for sale to anyone, and

Whereas, Hood Richardson has repeatedly stated and posted signs on the said building asserting the building is not for sale to anyone, and

Wheras, said building is a part of historic Washington and is protected from destruction, and

Whereas, William Bonanno, has repeatedly made the above stated false accusations in writing, and

Therefore, the Beaufort County Republican Executive Committee by majority vote issues this resolutin of rebuke to the said William Bonanno this the 20th day of may 2014.

Sadly, the problem, I believe, lies with the fact that we a have an extremely uninformed electorate in Beaufort County. Most voters just do not know the issues or what the probable ramifications could be.

Why else could an issue such as 'commissioner behavior' be a contributing issue in a primary election, a primary election that was well swayed by Independents in a time when real Republicans did not go to the polls in sufficient enough numbers to counter the huge amount of money that bought that election for the political neophytes.

Sadly, Hood and I have lately remarked that what this county may well need is a good old fashioned tax property increase - one large enough to get the attention of those that really don't pay attention for whatever purpose, and believe that commissioner conduct and the pleasure of giving away a hospital are the real issues we should embrace.

The problem with that is that those of us that do pay attention will suffer as well. I will be sorry about that eventuality, because it will occur just as soon as we have an economic downturn, and I fear it will be severe.

Consider the fact that Hood will not always be on that board, and I am done for the foreseeable future, and you have to ask yourself: Can Ashley Woolard, Greg Dority and Bill Tarpening, or the other RINOs run that board when times get that tough.

Think about it.

I just thought about it. I don't think there is a dime's difference between the RINOs' handlers and the Woolard - Dority - Tarpening triumvirate. Therefore, I'm betting the taxpayers are screwed regardless, at this point, no matter what happens. I guess I'm a bit cynical at this point.

Not liking someone's personality is a poor excuse for censorship. You just have to wonder why people would be so upset with Hood Richardson and Stan Deatherage. It couldn't be because of all the conservative policy from these commissioners on the Beaufort County Commission, because they have never had the votes to enact such policy. For a long while the Democrats were in the majority of this commission. Then when the Republicans gained control of the Board by election, it did not happen because two and lately one Republican joined the Democrats in actual policy making as well as organization. The result of this is that the two conservative, principled Republicans have never been able to enact their own conservative policies. So, why have these commissioners been attacked so vehemently over the years by some?

It can only be because they have publically complained, and they have publically asked the hard questions that some have not wanted to answer. The unknowing may wonder if there is any risk in doing that? I'll not answer for the two mentioned commissioners. We in the public can see some of the ramifications of the attacks on public figures in public perceptions. There is more that is not for me to tell. I can tell that just an interested private citizen with questions and strong opinions, like me, can expect phone calls with or without a voice on the other end, with or without outright threats directly or implied. Some people don't like questions.

One could write a book about all the issues over the years in Beaufort County, so let's just consider the issue of the day: The jail issue. This issue begs for a list of legitimate questions:
1) Why is the Beaufort County Commission (by 4 to 3 vote) wanting to impose more long term debt on an already debt ridden county?
2) Why is public debt being forced on residents without a public referendum that is our constitutional right?
3) Why did the Republican led state legislature not close the unconstitutional loop-hole opened by a previous Democrat led state legislature, allowing this kind of public debt atrocity?
4) Why do four county commissioners not want to discus how many years of debt payment they will oblige us for?
5) Why do these four commissioners downplay how much our taxes will increase to pay for this long term burden?
6) Why do some not want to talk about the ramifications of putting a jail complex first in the Washington Industrial Park and now proposed more recently in the Chocowinity Industial Park?

There ARE ramifications to these actions. Would the public want to silence these sorts of questions? As for me, I want more questions and a lot more answers to those questions. The results of public policy fall direcly on us and onto our children. That, my friends, is as personal as it gets.
