    Sorry we could not continue our good conversation this morning, but your article said it all, I think.

    Try being a Baptist Preacher at 2 churches taken over by the "glorified country club" syndrome. I got brutally fired, not once, but TWICE!!! The ones who did me in talked behind my back / never confronted any of their issues face-to-face. One of the bastards said I looked like Jim Jones!

    Here is a good word from my Baptist Preacher father who got brutally fired ONCE when I was a 5th grader and understood who he was vs. what his enemies tried to make him out to be.

    VENGEANCE IS MINE, SAITH THE LORD

    In my awful hurt over friends who kept their mouths shut / people who believed lies non-stop / others who could have helped and went along with the crowd of corruption---I shook the dust from my shoes and moved on to bigger and better things! You will too and I await the viewing of the results.

    We have superficial political differences, but we share the values of truth / handling other people's money with great care / doing all we can to help the underdogs of life. With this common core of values, we will always be friends as long as I live here at Bayview. I have no intentions of moving on until my ashes are spread under the water oak I planted a few years ago!

    If I can ever be of assistance, let me know. If the buzzards keeping you from soaring to greater heights attack again, just come on by and sit beside the Pamlico on my porch. It is more than soothing.

    Hopefully we can get together in the near future for a nice cook out. My son is returning to E. City with the USCG aviation division and he will make us both feel better! He is a man of integrity just like me. Give us the fire pit / some beers (I prefer LIT) and the starry skies and fresh breezes off the River, we will concoct some good future ideas!

    I love and respect you, man. Keep the FAITH!

The Lord did not protect the Apostles, Disciples, or Jesus. Pastors can expect the same. Christians can expect the same.

You have Liberal tendencies, and, of course, I lean Conservative, but we have much in common - our communion in Christ.

In fact, contrary to what most people would understand, I do have Liberal friends. I try to always get along with folks that treat me in a respectful manner. I, in turn, endeavor to treat others in a respectful manner ... if they deserve it.

Politics can be a nasty business, and if you are any good at it, you will get dirty ... at least in someone's perception, almost always those wo are not very good at paying attention to all there is around them. The one thing one can always preserve, however, if they work hard at it, is their integrity. To do so, they must remain honest with others and most especially themselves.

The upside of being beaten by dishonest men after 18 years is that I have retained my integrity, my honesty.

How many politicians can say that?

In that regard, it could also be said that I was dealt a political death while I was definitely on top, still at the top of my game.

You of all people will know what I mean.
