William Scott Cutler, age 66, a resident of Neck Rd., Washington, NC passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his home.

    William Scott Cutler, age 66, a resident of Neck Rd., Washington, NC passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his home.

    There will be a celebration of his life with military honors at 3:30 PM, Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Jim Reed and Tony Krantz. Burial will follow in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ted Baynor, Jonathon Newman, Fred Woolard, Ray Leary, Roland Woolard and Cecil Leggett will serve as pallbearers. Peggy Hope and Sue Leary will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday, April 25 from 7:30 to 9:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, NC and other times at the home.

    Bill Scott was born January 6, 1948 in Beaufort County, son of the late Julian Cutler and Evalue Swindell Cutler. He graduated Bath High School in 1966 and attended Beaufort County Community College learning the trade of electrician. On April 29, 1979 he married Sharon Faye Woolard who survives.

    Bill Scott retired from Weyerhaeuser on May 15, 2009 where he worked in the paper plant. He formerly worked with Norfolk Southern Railroad. Bill Scott was co-owner, with his wife, of Flair By Sharon. He actually constructed and maintained the building and grounds. Bill Scott was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and served as the Sunday School Superintendant for several years. Bill Scott served his country in the US Navy for four years.

    In addition to his wife, Sharon W. Cutler, Bill Scott is survived by his children, Morgan Cutler of Bath, Brandi C. Deese of Laurinburg, and Stuart Cutler of Connecticut; his sisters, Joy Corprew of Pinetown and Jewelette Dillion of Manteo; and his grandchildren, Hayden Jersey Deese and Davis Coy Cutler who was the light of his eyes and one grandchild who is on the way.

    In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Cutler.

    The family wishes to extend their many thanks to friends and family who have been so helpful and loving during this time.
