"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't It:" On the Road in Myrtle Beach: Chapter II - Summer, 2011 | Eastern North Carolina Now

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is the subject of this pictorial of what is what I consider the best of summer - the Atlantic seashore.

With sunsets, each succeeding minute equals additional color until its completely gone. Understanding this, I cannot stop the camera until it, and I am gone: Above and both pictures below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

And now for the climax of the evening's sojourn - Bovines. I had a delicious 14 oz. ribeye steak, with garlic mashed potatoes, corn pudding, salad bar: Above. My wife had an 8 oz. Mahi-mahi, mixed vegetables, corn pudding, salad bar (came with the meal): Below. Needless to say, we took a big box home, and what is best, the food was well prepared, and along with the sunset, well worth the trip to Murrells Inlet.     photos by Stan Deatherage

My last series of pictures of our September visit to Myrtle Beach culminates with our morning on the local Board walk, which I chronicled in an earlier publication.

While the development of the Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade area continues, there is one notable edition - the SkyWheel. The SkyWheel measures 200 feet above sea level, and boast 42 climate controlled cars. It is the centerpiece of the this Myrtle Beach make-over.

The Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade is remarkable, a splendid retro-renovation that makes the SkyWheel its unmistakable landmark: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

The shops and restaurants are the perfect extension to what personifies Myrtle Beach: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage
