An Autumn Experience: The Northern Outer Banks | Eastern North Carolina Now

Everyone needs to take some time off, and get out of town just to clear out their heads, gain a measure of perspective.

ENCNow
While I rested upon the high dune, basking in the warming sun, I noticed that so many folks enjoyed having this pictures made in these group shot scenes: Above. The views from this perspective are outstanding from all vantage points: Below.

As we trek down the high dune, I noticed that the monument is made more impressive by the colors of a beautiful day: Above. At the foot of the hill is a bronze sculpture of the historic event, with Orville controlling the flyer, and Wilbur trailing along behind the winged instrument: Below.

Everyone wants to get into the picture, as evidenced by this Ecuadorian marathon runner, who was here for the Outer Banks Marathon. This fellow, who understood only a modicum of English, posed perfectly for this picture. I told him to check BCN, but I do not think he understood. Regardless, I do appreciate this image, especially with this fellow's participation: Above. In the lower image, we must all realize that images must be made to record events. This bronze stature and I are kindred spirits: Below.

One more look at the fine stature representing just one of many of the events that shaped the history of one of our nation's most unique places. I am forever amazed at the complete beauty of this geographic oddity - North Carolin'a Outer Banks.
