"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't It:" On the Road in Myrtle Beach: Chapter II - Summer, 2011 | Eastern North Carolina Now

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is the subject of this pictorial of what is what I consider the best of summer - the Atlantic seashore.

Just across the Horry County line is Murrells Inlet in Georgetown County. Here in Murrells inlet, we have reservations to eat at the iconic Bovines restaurant; however, we get here in sufficient time to enjoy an amazing sunset: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

This gentleman in the Kayak is from Colorado, and has been out fishing ... in his Kayak: Above. Beneath the spreading boughs of this young Live Oak, we can see the bright reflection of the setting sun on the cottages and condos, just across the inlet, of Garden City: Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

Looking up the inlet, past the floating docks, toward the many restaurants that is Murrells inlet's biggest draw: Above. Looking down the inlet to where the setting sun is beginning to bring the color to clouds: Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

The next series of pictures were taken from the waterfront parking lot of the Belin United Methodist Church. Why here? I really liked how the prominent steeple contrasted with the splendid sunset, and I loved using their wide waterfront to get these other shots: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

Still from the church parking lot, I shoot down the intlet toward the darkening sand dune that separates Murrells inlet from the Atlantic Ocean: Above. Looking back, southwest toward Methodist Church, we see a darkening picture: The silhouettes of of the spreading Live Oaks in the foreground, the sun's fireworks in the clouds lighting up the sky: Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage
