"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't It:" Beaufort County, Part I | Eastern North Carolina Now

Over the last year, we have taken a number of pictures of places and events. Within this article, we share a few more images with you.

    The lost Pines that were once tall and straight build some mighty large root systems: Above. Live Oaks even struggle to hold onto the shoreline: Below.

    Looking back into the glare of the sparkling waters of the Pamlico gives one the sense that the flowing water will always be a valuable resource to the people of this region: Above and below.

    Rural counties, such as Beaufort County, has many rural wood-frame churches along its highways and byways affording those folks, who live far outside of the seven towns that populate the county. Zion Episcopal Church is one such country church. Built in 1856, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this quaint center of spiritual development is still in operation today: Above and below.
