I found this rendition of organized chords and lyrics that not only works for my playing style, but gives the song a better chance of having the more rounded tones of the original, without the lead, which is all Knopfler's lead instrument; supported by his outstanding cast of musicians, with Composer Knopfler playing tonal passages to effect the perfect emphasis of mood; as important as the lyrics in this masterful melody. This version helps me, just one
"poor player", to fill in the gaps a bit more. I don't play the lead scales like the great Mark Knopfler, but one day, who knows ... well, probably not.
Brothers in Arms
composed by Mark Knopfler with lyrics by Mark Knopfler in 1982; performed by Dire Straits in 1985
Wonderful melody, both simple and complex in layers. I prefer the more difficult version to play because in renders out a greater upswing in mood at critical points of this song that has is more of a down tone at its core melody.
