free speech disappering in Europe; and in danger from Biden in US

In the warped view of Bolshevik Bob, there was free speech and no censorship in Stalin's Russia and Nazi Germany and is today in Cuba, North Korea, and China. If government does not allow you to make a statement about policy or punishes you for doing so, then you have censorship and you do NOT have free speech or democracy. Of course with his view of the Trump ambush in Manhattan, he probably thinks the Stalin Show Trials were fair, too.

Given what is happening to freedom of speech in other countries I am so glad we have champions of free speech like Elon Musk and that Missioui attorney general who is suing Biden over Biden's attacks on free speech. That key Supreme Court case on free speech is one of the reasons that Democrat politicians and their MSM media allies are so budy these days trying to intimidate the Supreeme Court.

It IS censorship when government punishes political speech or tries to block it, which is exactly what these instances show.

When you are not playing the ideologue card, you are playing the moron card, and both of them make you look like the idiot you are.

I stand by my post. Its not censorship just because people disagree with you. When you're not playing the victim card you play the conspiracy card. Neither are based in reality and make you look weak.

The "victim" mentality is part of the left's ideology, so do not try to project it onto conservatives. We value our liberties, and fight back against collectivist totalitarians trying to suppress them. We see what is going on in other parts of the western world and are vigilant to keep it from happening here. Brazil used to be a thriving democracy, but is how headed to becoming an authoritarian police state. That article shows exactly what we want to avoid in America. It is great that we have some outstanding Republican attorney generals taking attacks on free speech to the courts, as the Missouri and Louisiana AG's have in Missouri v. Biden, now before the US Supreme Court, and probably the most important First Amendment case in decades.

JS- do you see the irony of your last post? No matter how hard you try, the victim card just doesn’t hold up.

"Threats to freedom of speech, writing and action, though often trivial in isolation, are cumulative in their effect and, unless checked, lead to a general disrespect for the rights of the citizen." - George Orwell

Orwell was right!

Washington state's passage of SB 5427 by the Democrats raises the hate speech problem of censorship here in the US. It even gives people rewards of up to $2,000 for reporting "hate speech" and tramples upon First Amendment protections. I would imagine it would be tossed out when challenged in federal court, but with Obama and Biden judges, who knows?

Here is a good article citing how censorship is suppressing free speech around the western world, with Brazil being the country most impacted so far, and it quotes the words of George Orwell above: www.zerohedge.com

The "speech crime" charged against Christina Bobb in Arizona is about her work to clean up the flawed election process in Arizona. It is focused on 2024, not 2020, but discussion of the 2020 irregularities in necessary to address what needs to be done for 2024. She is a paid senior staff member of the Republican National Committee.

The dispute about which group were legitimately elected as Presidential electors from Arizona in 2020 is a separate matter. Arizona is a swing state with liberal Democrats as Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State and one US Senate seat. The other US Senator is a moderate Democrat. The liberals in Arizona are trying to criminalize things that have been done before in presidential politics and never been considered illegal. This is just part of their lawfare against Republicans, but the shoe will soon be on the other foot.

Fake electors is not a speech issue.
AZ is not a liberal state.

Neither of your usual arguments hold up.

Feel free to make up some new ones.

What we are seeing is the left inflicting a death by a thousand cuts on free speech. It seems to be much worse in Europe, but it is happening hear. Biden's attempt to set up a "Ministry of Truth" with his "disinformation" board was an example, and so is the Biden regimes efforts to control political content on social media. The Twitter files were a smoking gun on that. Now it is up to our Supreme Court in that case brought by the Attorney General of Missouri to stike a major blow for free speech against the Biden regime's schemes. We are already seeing Democrats on the left coast advancing "hate speech" legislation. "Hate speech" simply means they are totalitarians who hate FREE speech,

Arizona is clearly criminalizing political speech in their totalitarian anti-democratic charges against Christina Bobb.

Our country has had freedom of speech for nearly two and a half centuries, but today it is under threat from the Biden left. There are two victims of censorship identified in the origianl post, and neither of them is posting here, Little Bobbie.

None of that is true. Generalized statements expressing your victimhood aside.

From FOX all the way down to the Beaufort Observer our speech is protected within the bounds of the first amendment.

The billionaire is a big baby. He had the best defense money could by. The jury will decide. We will live with the results.

The left wants to shut down free speech on a lot of public policy issues. The climate alarmists, for example, call for not allowing anyone to dispute their positions in public, even criminalising doing so. Biden has tried to suppress information contrary to his political positions, and the State of Missouri now has a lawsuit on that in front of the Supreme Court.

Our Justice system has become a joke all over the USA, and the local Govt/Justice system has always been part of the good ole boy system, right here in Beaufort County, & Washington,NC.
I've been told there is not one local attorney who will challenged the local govt and or its good ole boy local police system.

If this isnt true, will one of the great talkers here on Beaufort NOW, show me I am wrong? If no one does, it proves I am right and the people here only want to gripe about the National and State level.

I know one person who was told that if they didn't like the way the City Council ruled, then they should hire an attorney. They know the game is rigged. Citizens have no power here or anywhere.

If someone, a political person or an average citizen, is prosecuted criminally by a government for advocating the position of the majority of citizens against illegal immigration, then that government is authoritarian and anti-democratic. That would be true even if it were not a majority opinion, but it is far more glaring when it is. Much of Europe is no longer democratic, and America is headed the same way.

Illegal immigration is one of the biggest political issues in America and in Europe. If people, especially politicians, are punished for taking stands on that, then the country involved has no free speech and is not a democracy. In America, election integrity is similarly a huge issue and if discussion of that is punished, then democracy is dead.

If government punishes people for the content of their political speech, then free speech does not exist where that is done. Our courts in the US have consistently ruled that political speech is the most protected of all speech. Bob, you have a totalitarian mindset and that is very obvious.

None of this is true....freedom of speech and freedom from consequences for what you say are not the same thing.
Commented: Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 @ 9:01 am By: Big Bob
None of that is true. Not one person has been silenced. Many don't agree with you, but that's not the same thing. You're not victims.

Both of these young women political activists who are having their free speech suppressed are lawyers. That shows how far the establishment's attack on free speech goes. I would imagine that as soon as the new government in the Netherlands is installed, they will be taking some strong legislative action to protect freedom of speech there.

In the US, our First Amendment protects our freedom of speech, and at some point, those ridiculous anti-freedom charges in the Peoples Republic of Arizona will be thrown out. What is happening is really just Democrat harassment of a Republican official with a critical task between now and November.

What is really needed in Europe and the US is a good mechanism to go after officials involved in such baseless political prosecutions, either criminally, civilly, or both. Make the rogue prosecutors and / or judges pay. Freedom of speech is a key cornerstone of democracy and must be defended.

The left in the US is pushing this "hate speech" censorship, too, and one of the big targets where this censorship has taken root is suppressing any criticism of illegal immigration. There have been members of the European parliament from Italy, Belgium, and Romania investigated for "hate speech".
