At the direction of Governor Pat McCrory and in the interest of efficiency, the N.C. Department of Transportation is placing its Sikorsky S-76 helicopter up for sale, based on a review of ways to operate more efficiently by consolidating the department's air fleet.

Vidant Medical Center’s President Steve Lawler was recently appointed vice-chairman of the North Carolina State Health Coordinating Council by Gov. Pat McCrory. Lawler’s term will expire Dec. 31, 2016.

On May 10, 2014 Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested Kevin Damek Towns, age 30, of 400 Warren Chapel Church Road in Chocowinity. Towns' arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting controlled purchases of cocaine and marijuana.
