On January 20, 2012, Deputies with
the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Gray Road in Chocowinity, NC in reference to a report of larceny. Patrol Deputies met with the General Foreman of the Gray Road Mine and discovered two subjects were caught stealing numerous types of scrap metal from the property. While on scene, Deputies documented that the suspect’s vehicle was loaded with stolen scrap metal. Deputies conducted interviews and learned stolen metal from the mine had been previously sold at a recycling business in Vanceboro, NC.
As a result of the investigation, Sergeant Jeremy Landeck arrested James Lindley Deans, age 25, of Doe Run in Washington, NC and Vince Allen Hodges, age 25, of Slatestone Road in Washington, NC. They were both charged with one count of Obtaining Property By False Pretenses, one count of misdemeanor Larceny, and two counts of Second Degree Trespassing. They were brought before Magistrate Curtis and held on $1,500 secured bonds. Deans was also served with an outstanding Order for Arrest for failure to appear in Craven County and issued an additional $500 secured bond.

As a result of the investigation, Sergeant Jeremy Landeck arrested James Lindley Deans, age 25, of Doe Run in Washington, NC and Vince Allen Hodges, age 25, of Slatestone Road in Washington, NC.
