On January 14, 2012 at
approximately 3:30 p.m., Sgt. Ernest Moore with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on Harding Lane in Chocowinity. Sgt. Moore stopped the vehicle after observing it cross the center highway line while traveling on East Barr Road. Sgt. Moore identified the driver and checked to determine if the driver had a valid driver’s license or any outstanding arrest warrants. After learning of three active Order for Arrests on Grand Jury Indictments, Sgt. Moore arrested the driver, Mitchell Alando StClair Jr., age 37, of Sharon Court in Washington, NC.
After securing StClair, Moore interviewed the passenger and developed probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, Deputies located five plastic baggies containing marijuana in a glass jar inside of a computer case. A canister containing a white powdery substance was also recovered. Sgt. Moore transported StClair to the Magistrate’s Office, served the outstanding OFA’s, and charged him with Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. StClair was released after posting an $8,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Eric Holmes.
