On October 1, 2011, the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering of a sailboat. The sailboat was beached near the Bath Creek inlet after hurricane Irene. The victim found several electronic items and boating equipment missing from the boat. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted interviews.
As a result of the information obtained during the investigation, a suspect was identified. Investigator Robert Gaskins applied for and obtained a warrant charging Patrick Hoagland, age 29, of Boyd Loop Road in Pinetown with Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle and Felony Larceny. Hoagland was arrested on December 12th and confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $5,000.00 secured bond.
