Party Chairman will run for the Republican nomination for the office of North Candidate for the office of North Carolina Secretary of State. Chairman Dority is no stranger to running for North Carolina's Council of State, where he sought the Republican nomination, to be their candidate in 2008, for the seat of Lieutenant Governor.

In that race, Mr. Dority lost to Republican Robert Pittenger, who, in turn, eventually lost to Democrat Walter Dalton in the 2008 General Election.

Here below is Chairman Dority's Press release:

Dear Friends

Thank you for your encouragement and support these last few months as I have traveled the state talking our message of job creation and fiscal conservatism. I have heard your concerns and announced my candidacy for the North Carolina Secretary of State office in the 2012 election.

I won't kid you, this will be a tough race against a politician that challenged our very own Republican Senator Richard Burr in the last election. However, I believe Republican success in the last cycle, combined with our superior emphasis on putting middle class citizens back to work, will propel us to victory in 2012. Like you, I want to see Pat McCrory and our fine congressional candidates running on the strongest ticket possible. You know my commitment to supporting our GOP candidates up and down the ticket in the tight races -- and I pledge to do that once again in 2012.

Many years ago in 1978 as a student volunteer with Senator Helms' first re-election bid I began my work with the party. Today I serve as Beaufort County GOP Chairman. In between I have seen many election cycles and been privileged to work and fellowship with hundreds of you as we championed the conservative cause. Now as our state and nation balance upon the abyss of Democratic Party policy-destruction, I ask you to join me once again as we take the fight to the enemy.

I humbly ask for your support in this endeavor. We are a Christian nation and God will see us through this crisis one way or the other. Best though, we get started today.
