Hands on Arts Fall Festival | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Be part of the Hands on Arts Fall Festival, the first Annual Fall Art Festival presented by Arts of the Pamlico in Historic Downtown Washington, NC on Saturday & Sunday September 24th & 25th.

    We are looking for at least 150 fine artists and craftspeople of art in many different categories, including painting, photography, pottery, jewelry, woodwork and more to come exhibit and sell their original works. Booths will line Main and South Respess Streets. In addition, we are looking for artists interested in offering workshops and/or doing demonstrations.

    The Festival will take place Saturday, September 24th from 11-6 p.m. and Sunday, September 25th from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. In addition there will be a children's Art Market for art entrepreneurs ages 8-18 and a "kid zone" featuring face painting, storytelling, games and crafts. It will also highlight many of the very talented local musicians who will be performing acoustically in various areas throughout the festival. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the Best Booth Display; all attendees will have an opportunity to vote. The winner will be announced at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Festival attendees will be able to take advantage of sales and specials offered by local merchants and restaurants throughout the weekend. Casual food choices will be available along the waterfront by street vendors.

    Artisans and craftspeople are invited to showcase their own work of the highest quality and originality in concept and design! Applications will be reviewed and selected based on quality, diversity, and originality of work.

It began as a light rain Thursday night, January 20th, with temperatures a balmy 46 degrees, and by morning a thin layer of ice clung to the firm, bright reddish green Nandina leaves prevalent upon my personal grounds here in Mac'swood.
The renovated and recently revived Turnage Theater has fallen on some pretty hard times as of late, and is being forced to shutter its doors.
