ECU Events Raise Awareness On Public Health | Eastern North Carolina Now

    In recognition of National Public Health Week April 6 - 10, East Carolina University will present a series of events that will draw public health professionals from across North Carolina.

    Events are designed to increase awareness about the field of public health and its contributions, while highlighting issues important to improving the health of the region and the nation.

    Activities include:

  • What is Public Health? A panel of public health practitioners will describe their contributions to public health, followed by a question and answer session. 4:30 p.m. April 6 in Speight 129.
  • Eta Sigma Gamma Blood Drive, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. April 7 - 8, Mendenhall Student Center.
  • Public Health Research Symposium, Faculty and students will present current research related to public health. 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., April 9 in the Carol Belk Building.

    ECU's departments of Health Education and Promotion and Public Health are hosting the ECU activities, in concert with the national public health week organized by the American Public Health Association. This year's national theme is rallying communities around the goal of making the United States the healthiest nation in one generation — by 2030.
