    On September 9, 2014, three homes on Old Blounts Creek Road in Chocowinity, NC were broken into. Once inside two of the homes, the thieves took several handguns and a flatscreen television. A witness saw two black male suspects loading the stolen items into a gold colored Pontiac van before they fled the scene. The Sheriff's Office began an investigation and conducted interviews. On September 19th, the Greenville Police Department recovered one of the stolen handguns during a crime scene search in Greenville.

    As a result, Investigator Landeck applied and obtain warrants charging Brandon Ozenza Atkinson, age 24 of East Brook Drive in Greenville with two counts of Safe Cracking, three counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, two counts of Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and two counts of Larceny of a Firearm. Atkinson was arrested on September 24th by Pitt County Probation and Parole. He was transported to the Pitt County Detention Center where he was served with the warrants and held on a $75,000.00 secured bond.

    On September 25th, Investigator Landeck applied for and obtained warrants charging T'Shawn Lavious Perkins, age 23 of Ward Street in Greenville with two counts of Safe Cracking, three counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, two counts of Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and two counts of Larceny of a Firearm. Perkins is still at-large.

Calls, texts, and emails are anonymous. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000.00 for information that leads to an arrest or the recovery of property in this case. Tipsters do not have to give their name to receive a reward. Additional arrests are expected in the on-going investigation.

On February18, 2024, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible human skeletal remains found in a wooded area near River Rd. in Washington.

On Tuesday, February 6, 2024 Mykal Coleman was arrested and confined to the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $75,000.00 secure bond.
On October 9, 2023, Ashun Anthony, age 24 of Washington, NC was indicted by a Beaufort County Grand Jury for the crime of Death by Distribution in connection with the April 29, 2022 death of 31 year old Quintin Freeman

On January 26, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office along with K-9 Tinnus arrested Desmond Trieke Gorham on multiple drugs and weapons charges.

On July 13, 2023, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office concluded a two-month long drug investigation on Bobby Lee Moore Jr. Moore is 43 years of age and a lifelong resident of Aurora, NC.
On May 12, 2023, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Kyle Willis Bailey, 47 years of age, of Washington
On 04/13/2023, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Officers with the Washington Police Department and Probation Officers conducted a search of Germaine Williams residence located at 829 Boston Avenue in Washington.
On 03/11/2023, Patrol Deputies assigned to the Aurora area served arrest warrants on Anthony Bragg, 32 years of age, of 1824 Bay City Road in Aurora.
On 02/7/2023, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Shaquel Collins, 29 years of age, of 113 Days Inn in Washington.
