4th of July Activities and Arthur's impact | Eastern North Carolina Now

News Release:

Due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Arthur, Lee Chevrolet and the City of Washington Fireworks are sorry to announce the cancelation of all morning and afternoon activities for July 4th. At this time, we anticipate going ahead with the Spare Change concert at 6:00 pm and the fireworks and laser light show immediately after the concert.

The Freedom Day Gospel Explosion will move their show to The Word of Life Worship Center, 4449 Main Street Extended, Washington – the time remains the same at 9:00 am till 2:00 pm. They are asking for a $10 donation at the door. The Farmers and Artisans Saturday Market is still on track for Saturday morning. The Zaxby's Chicken Children's Fun Zone will be rescheduled for a later date. Follow us on Facebook for further updates: www.facebook.com/WashingtonHarborDistrictAlliance

Based on the latest track we have for Arthur it appears that the storm will be out of the area by Friday afternoon. However, if it stalls, makes an inland shift or we have infrastructure damage that would cause a safety concern on Friday, we will make the call to cancel at that time.

Sunsets are a natural phenomenon, and always a process where one can estimate that the evening will produce a magnificent sunset, but, one can never be altogether sure until it either happens, or the light of the day unceremoniously just turns dark.
