Beaufort County Commissioners to Consider Resolution to Keep ICANN Under U.S. Control | Eastern North Carolina Now

As many of you that follow me and Beaufort County's government most probably know, I often write resolutions regarding grassroots issues that are deep within the fabric of what America must correct to remain solvent as a republic. And even though there has long existed a slim Republican majority on Beaufort County's Board of Commissioners, the political teeth of that majority is leveraged to the whim of its nominal Republicans - numbering two, now one.

To that immutable end, my resolutions pass muster with these more liberal minded commissioners less often than they should. Still, I continue to cry out that there are massive problems in our Republic, and I know within whatever wisdom I possess that America is on a collision course with a very drastic destiny, which will test the resolve of our People, and currently, I sincerely do not believe we, as a People, have the patriotic and intellectual wherewithal to successfully deal with these desperate days yet to come. So I continue to write these resolutions. I continue to have some hope, however fleeting, that by these grassroots efforts, we may slowly turn America away from this inevitable calamitous conclusion that is no longer IF it shall occur, but WHEN. Sadly, the When is nearly visible on the horizon of our collective future history.

The resolution that I have quickly crafted deals with an issue that affects the vast majority of us: Mr. Obama's Commerce Department ceding America's control of the internet. I can't speak as to why they are clamoring to bequeath what was our American invention, and is now the electrified fabric of most of our communication. It is not as if the world does not have access to the internet, it is just that the world does not have access to control this medium that is built upon the premise of limited control by any nation, especially our own. So why should America be so quick-footed to divest itself of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to the 'global internet community'?

I personally am not equipped with the specialized wisdom that will allow me the capability to fathom such. Then again, I never understood a smidgen of why another incredibly weak U.S. President, Jimmy Carter, gave away the Panama Canal, or allowed radical Islam to gain a foothold in the Middle East by surrendering all influence in Iran, so as to expedite the exiled Ayatollah Khomeini return from France. There are stark similarities between the two presidents, in that both: believe in a weak U.S. military, believe that America should divest itself of its assets, and both are liberal Democrats.

The difference this time is that Mr. Obama regularly complains that a Republican congress keeps him from getting anything meaningfully done. President Jimmy Carter had both a Democrat controlled House and Senate. We grassroots Republicans know there is a Republican Congress, however lackluster in ferocity of purpose, that stands in Mr. Obama's path of hastening our decline as a nation. Odds are getting better, with each passing day, that the Republicans will gain control, however by the slimmest of margins, of the U.S. Senate in this year's 2014 General Election. Until the proverbial 'cavalry rides in' to save the day, I will continue with these resolutions.

Resolution to beg the Obama Administration from Surrendering the American Internet to International Control

Whereas, The United States was integrally influential in the creation of the internet as early as 1960s, when the United States Department of Defense developed a packet network, the forerunner of Internet Protocol (think IP address), which are encapsulated packets of data routed in electrical impulses, and,

Whereas, nearly 50 years later, the internet is a convenient and efficient manner of communication, assessing valuable content, and a means of interactive commerce at an affordable cost for all Americans, and,

Whereas, The United States currently manages the internet through its Federal Commerce Department within the construct of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to the global Internet community, which will require Americans to be under international control of their use of the "world wide web", not least of which being the registration of domains will be under the control of a foreign entity, and,

Whereas, the far greater propensity of internet criminals reside in foreign countries, where, in most cases, their governments are of a lawless nature, and,

Whereas, for the American internet to thrive, we, Americans, need to feel that our data is safe, and while the current construct is certainly not perfect, we all well understand that we can better effect the evolution of this product through our current Federal system of controls, and,

Whereas, this current Obama initiative is so universally unpopular that esteemed Democrat pollsters Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen agreed in this joint comment, "this government in Washington, and I hate to say, our party, has decided to surrender the country. The internet is just part of it.", and,

Whereas, it is understood that no nation shall remain free when it cedes in sovereign power to that of a foreign entity, therefore,

Let it be resolved, the Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners request that the United States Congress use their power of Oversight, and their power of Appropriations to end this foolish endeavor of the Obama Administration to cede control of the American Internet to the will of international control.

This resolution, written by Stan Deatherage, and offered for passage, on April 7, 2014, by the Beaufort Board of County Commissioners, shall be sent to: North Carolina's congressional delegation, the leadership of the United States House, and the Leadership of the United States Senate.
