Mr. Stephen Gregory “Greg” Powers, 41, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel.

On July 19, 2011, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested David Earl Simpkins, 31 years of age, of 3447 River Rd. in Washington.
On July 3, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted an undercover controlled purchase of heroin from both William Logan Whichard, age 19, of 3028 Whichards Beach Rd. in Chocowinity and Danielle Baker, 18 years of age, of 1977 NC Hwy 102 in Chocowinity.
On July 11, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Sex Offense involving a minor that occurred at a residence in Pantego, NC.
On June 24, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Larceny that occurred at Goose Creek State Park in Washington, NC. The victim reported his wallet, a tackle box, and a rod and reel were stolen from the beach area.
