The Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners will meet to discuss a variety of issues in their General Meeting on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. This is the first general meeting post budget, where the county commissioners, by a vote of 5 to 2, raised your property taxes by 6%.

Stanton Rust Prentiss, 95, of Bath, N.C., passed away June 4, 2011. Mr. Prentiss was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley S. Prentiss in May 2006. They are survived by a daughter, Randi Prentiss of Texas.

Tuesday Washington Police along with NC Probation and Parole officers arrested Ricky Rondell Young Jr, age 22, of Plymouth Street at his home for Possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana within 100o feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.
